Sports/PE Premium Funding

Sports Premium

The government has been providing funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - is allocated to primary school head teachers.

This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

What we planned to spend this money on to improve PE in our school over a long period of time can be seen below. The key objectives for the funding at Light Oaks Infant School are:

1. Health and Well-Being

2. Raising the profile of PE and sport for whole school improvement

3. Professional Development in PE

4. Increasing the range of sports and activities on offer

5. Competitive Sport

The 2020/21 school year has once again proven to be a challenging year due to the Covid19 pandemic and the aims of the School Sports Premium have needed to be adapted to help support the ever changing physical and emotional needs of our children, particularly following the early January 2021 lockdown.

During the 2021/22 school year, Light Oaks Infant School will receive £17,610 in addition to money rolled over from the previous school year.
