The government has been providing funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school head teachers.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
During the academic year September 2019 - July 2020 Light Oaks Infants will receive £17,750 in Sports Premium funding. What we planned to spend this money on to improve PE in our school over a long period of time can be seen below. The key objectives for the funding at Light Oaks Infant School are:
1. Health and Well-Being
2. Raising the profile of PE and sport for whole school improvement
3. Professional Development in PE
4. Increasing the range of sports and activities on offer
5. Competitive Sport
On Saturday 4th July 2020, it was announced that the school sports premium will continue at the current level during the 2020/2021 school year. Further details of how we intend to spend this funding will be published when school recommences in September.
