The government has been providing funding to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport - will be allocated to primary school head teachers.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
During the academic year September 2019 - July 2020 Light Oaks Infants will receive £17,750 in Sports Premium funding. What we planned to spend this money on to improve PE in our school over a long period of time can be seen below. The key objectives for the funding at Light Oaks Infant School are:
1. Health and Well-Being
2. Raising the profile of PE and sport for whole school improvement
3. Professional Development in PE
4. Increasing the range of sports and activities on offer
5. Competitive Sport
The 2020/21 school year has once again proven to be a challenging year and the aims of the School Sports Premium have needed to be adapted to help support the ever changing physical and emotional needs of our children, particularly following the early January lockdown.
