PE and Sport Premium 2026/27 Transition Year

The government provides funding to support high-quality physical education, physical activity and school sport.

2026/27 is a transition year for the Primary PE and Sport Premium. The government has announced that the existing PE and Sport Premium model will be replaced by a new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network, which is expected to be fully operational from spring 2027.

During 2026/27, primary schools will receive transition funding to support PE, sport and physical activity as schools move towards the new national approach.

At Light Oaks Infant School, we are committed to using this funding effectively to ensure that all children have opportunities to be active, develop their physical skills and confidence, and enjoy a broad range of physical activities and sport.

Our priorities are:

- Increasing opportunities for all pupils to be physically active

- Raising the profile of PE, physical activity and sport across the school

- Developing staff knowledge, confidence and expertise in delivering high-quality PE

- Providing a broad and inclusive range of activities and sporting opportunities

- Giving pupils opportunities to participate in competition and festivals
