Recipe Swap - 18 May 2011

18th April 2011
Connecting Classrooms Project (Mexico)
Dear Parents / Carers,
Last term we received some amazing videos created by one of our partner schools in Mexico. See below -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za4TEPXwsuM (Salsa de chicharrón)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqRc59CRmik (Cochinita Pibil)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu2q8w857RQ (Tortillas)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY8eJ0sGBnE (Calabaza)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ft12ZKV3hjU (Pozole)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaDxoy-9hjE (Chilaquiles)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZtVulBl16k (Tamales)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1ETRtbsQIU (Pescado a la Veracruzana)

We were wondering if anyone would be willing to make a video showing himself / herself or the family creating a recipe or a traditional meal. We can then send it / them to Mexico. If you are willing to help us, please complete the slip at the bottom of this letter and return it to school as soon as possible. Our cook has also offered to prepare a Mexican meal for all the children this term so please look out for the flyer.
During October the Headteachers of our partner schools in Mexico will be visiting us and we have already begun to plan the celebrations. If you have any ideas relating to this visit or any other suggestions relating to the project as a whole, please let us know.
A display showing the artefacts that were contained in our culture boxes is being created and you are welcome to have a look at these any evening after school from the 26th April. During this term we will be continuing the project. The children will be studying the work of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and we will be sharing school songs and work on national heroes with our partner schools.
Regards,
Mrs. Chapman
