RE: Industrial Action – 14^th October 2014

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you may be aware a number of Unions - Unison, Unite and GMB have confirmed that they will be taking part in a day of national strike action on Tuesday 14^th October  2014.

I am currently gathering information on behalf of the Governing Body to assess the number of staff who will be taking part in the action. Once the impact has been assessed I will agree with our Governing Body the measures to be taken and will write to you to confirm the outcome.

The decision to close the school or send pupils home is never taken lightly. I am aware that class/school closures inconvenience families and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the likely impact of the action on this school.

I therefore feel it is appropriate to notify you that you may need to make provisional arrangements for alternative child care in the event that the school has to close.

If the action has an impact on the school, the following arrangements will be in place: 

• I will inform families immediately
• I will inform parents of the scale of closure
