This week in Maths we will be re-capping repeated addition and multiplication.

 

We have started to work on this on Monday but feel the children would benefit from another day on it. Ask your child of they can remember which colour level they were up to in class. 

 

What does this mean? 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2

Is there another way of recording this?

 

First count how many 2s you can see. There are six 2s.

 

We can record it like this 6 x 2.

 

It means six lots of two.

 

To find the answer to this we need to count in 2s six times.

 

2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12

 

We would record the answer like this:

 

6 x 2 = 12

 

Try the colour level questions below. Turn the repeated addition number sentences into multiplication number sentences just like we have done above.

 

Either print off the sheet or copy the questions into your work book. Remember that RED level is the easiest level.
