What does this mean? 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2
Is there another way of recording this?
A quick way of recording this is by turning it into a multiplication number sentence.
First of all, how many 2s can we see? We can see six 2s.
So there are six 2s and we can record it like this:
6 x 2 =
This means that there are six lots or six groups of 2.
Now try this one:
10 x 10 x 10 =
How many 10s can we see? We can see three 10s so record it like this:
3 x 10 =
It's important that we record these in the correct order. 10 x 3 means ten lots of 3 and not three lots of ten. Yes the answer would be the same but today we're learning to turn the arrays into the correct multiplication number sentences!
