Safeguarding Children Statement

Light Oaks Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Staff: Our recruitment and selection processes are rigorous and comply with Salford LA guidance. All Staff are cleared by the DBS with volunteers cleared as applicable. All staff receive training and are aware of safeguarding and child protection issues and responsibilities.

Children: We listen to our children and take seriously what they tell us. On rare occasions concern about a child may mean that we have to consult other agencies before we contact you. Children feel they are in a safe place and that their concerns will be listened to. We closely monitor attendance and behaviour (which may link to abuse/neglect/hidden disability/undiagnosed medical conditions).

Security: The school site is protected by security fencing and there are procedures and policies in place in the event of a breach in security. The school has a signing in system for all visitors. Contractors on site are monitored. We hold termly Fire Drills.

Worried About a Child: If you are worried about the welfare or safety of a child it is very important that you share this information.

Salford City Council and  partners have a multi agency hub called the Bridge Partnership that screen all contacts concerning the welfare or safety of a child to children's services. Please see link below.
